MEDIA RELEASE
Bribie Classic Boat Regatta
The 23rd Bribie Classic Boat Regatta takes place on the shores of Bribie Island on May 20-22nd. Located about an hour north of Brisbane, this community event showcases the pristine beauty of the Pumicestone Passage.
With registrations up 25% from last year, the team managing the event, Bribie Aquatic Community Events (BACE) is delighted. BACE was formed in February 2021 with the objective of serving the community by running events that celebrate the social, cultural and economic life of our region. President of BACE, Cecilia Wilson believes this event is the perfect platform to share what life on Bribie Island is all about.
“Bribie Island in the Moreton Bay region is blessed with wonderful waterways ideal for all types of boating and fishing. The picturesque Glasshouse mountains form a natural backdrop to an island that is still ‘cruisey’, full of charm and rich in cultural history. This is why an emphasis on projects that have an aquatic element is a core consideration for our club and is a natural choice for Bribie Island’’ according to Ms Wilson.
She went on to say that although Covid is still around, this event is a great uplift to the locals in putting Covid behind them and that Bribie Island is particularly keen to welcome the many boaties from over the border and further south, who were not allowed to come last year
The BACE team have been reaching out to organisations and businesses in the Moreton region to support this event to stimulate tourism, the local economy and a sense of well-being and pride.
